Who Loves Michael Kors? I do!

Just look at these! I love them. And right now, the bestest store ever, Nordstrom, has marked them down. I've been stalking these shoes for quite some time after I saw them once and thought that they would bring a certain something to my shoe wardrobe. And now...now they will be mine! If you don't like this color, don't fret - there are three more. Black, green, and gold are also marked down to a surprising $63.90. Go check them out at Nordstrom.

Seriously?

Diorshow Blackout Mascara

My love for Diorshow is well documented. It's my holy grail mascara, and I can't imagine using anything else. So when I noticed a limited edition Blackout Diorshow at Sephora, I decided to give it a whirl.
Love it. It's black, intense, and perfect with the smokey eye. I coupled mine with my Techno palette from Hard Candy and loved the results. The black truly is different, although I don't know exactly what about it would make it so.
So if you're a Diorshow lover and are looking for a dramatic and intense eye, grab this one while you can. It's only at Sephora and only for a limited time.

Miss Dior Cherie

I thought this scent sounded extremely interesting. According to Sephora, the notes are green tangerine, violette, and pink jasmine, patchouli, musk, strawberry leaves and caramelized popcorn. I like violet in small doses, and jasmine is always good. Patchouli not so much, and musk is tricky. But carmelized popcorn? How interesting!
In reality, this perfume went on quite lovely, maybe a touch sweet, but the drydown. Good lord, the drydown was just awful on me. In fact, I would catch a whiff throughout the day and exclaim "I do NOT like this scent on me! It's gross!" Rather unnerving to my employees, I'm sure.
I'm not sure exactly what it was that made it all go so horribly wrong. I suspect patchouli. Patchouli smells to me of unwashed hippies in a crowded head shop. I never caught a whiff of the carmelized popcorn, and that's probably a good thing. The musk probably didn't help the situation, and I never caught the violet.
I usually like Dior (J'Adore is on my fragrance shelf), but this was just wrong on me in so many different ways. Back to Monyette Paris!

The Fake Bake

A couple of people have asked me if I go tanning. Yikes! No. Not in a million years. I do my tan from a can! I don't even like to expose my face to sunlight without a generous heaping of sunscreen. It's not that I have any risk factors at all for skin cancer, I am just too vain to do anything that will bring on wrinkles earlier than I would get them otherwise. I figure, I already have tons of gray hair, why make it worse?
Anyway, when it was the very, very beginning of spring, I started using L'Oreal's Sublime Glow lotion and spray:

This started around the middle of March. I got braver as the weather warmed up and switched to L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Lotion and Spray:

I'm pleased with the results thus far. Really, the only hints I have are to exfoliate really, really well before applying (I use a loofah and a good salt scrub) and to make sure you apply evenly if you are working with the lotion. The spray is nice, especially L'Oreal's kind, because it is "any angle". Meaning, I can manage to spray my back without involving the spouse in my beauty routines. Bonus!
I am going up north this month on business, and will be stopping at the Tyson's Corner Sephora. I think that I'll be investing in another brand, I just haven't decided which one. I'm hoping a more expensive brand will give me a browner color (versus orange - I'm afraid of turning orange - memories of self-tanning in the early '90's, probably).

New OPI collection

So, I'm loving this new Brights collection from OPI. I know the trend is all super light, whitish, pale nailcolor, but I just can't do it. It looks like I have dead hands, and lighter colors don't really work with my fake-right-from-a-bottle tan. These brights, though, really pop against tanned skin, don't you think? I think I love Dazzle Me and Charged Up Cherry. But I'd be open to Flashbulb Fuschia and Can't Tou Sea?
