I've Missed You!

Apologies for the absence, beauties - I was in Dallas combining work with pleasure! I had some amazing beauty experiences down there in the big city, and wanted to give you a quick preview of what I'm working on to share with you!

  • An absolutely amazing afternoon with Susan Posnick, who took time out of her weekend to show us her offices and studio. I will have some video of Susan sharing her expertise and her products with us.
  • I finally got to experience the fragrance chamber at the Frederic Malle counter at Barneys in Dallas. I don't know that fragrance could be so entertaining and interesting!
  • I have big news from the ever-fabulous world of Tom Ford Beauty. I also made a purchase from the Private Blend collection that I can't get enough of!
  • I experienced what was called the "best concealer in the world," and made that purchase too.
  • I visited the Bond No. 9 counter at Saks with Paula from Older Girl Beauty. Do you think I purchased something?
So stay tuned - I have so much to write about! And I loved Dallas - I could live there!

Have a Little Cash in this Economic Downturn?

Then you might want to head over to Saks, where they are slashing the leftover fall/winter stuff by 80%. They might as well be giving it away. And, as if that wasn't enough, Free Shipping on your Saks.com order of $150 or more! Use code VDAY9. Offer valid through 1.25.09.

Cocoon Cashmere Cardigan Was $320, now $192.
Because, honestly. It's always a good idea to buy cashmere. You know you'll need it next winter, even if you don't get a chance to wear it this season (and by the looks of things, you probably will since it's been about 35 degrees here in Virginia Beach).

Whistle & Flute Button Trim Turtleneck. Was $196, now $58.45. Because I love the detail on this top, and it would be a perfect work shirt.

There is really too much to list. But I see a few things that are getting my attention. There is stuff for expecting moms, kids, and lots more, too.

Private Sale at Saks Fifth Avenue

Saks Fifth Avenue Sale - Spring 2008

I just got an email that Saks is having a private sale now through November 12. You can save up to 40% on fall's best designer selections. It's a great opportunity to get some fantastic pieces for a drastically reduced price.

I love these types of sales because I can stock up on basics that will last. My own personal philosophy is that I like to spend more money on things that will last and are high quality. I use H&M and other "fast fashion" for my seasonal trend items.

Happy shopping!

Friends and Family Savings Event at Saks Fifth Avenue: 20% off!

Saks Fifth AvenueNow through Sunday, October 19, Saks is doing their annual Friends and Family Save 20% off with code SAKSFF8! The discount isn't quite so good on beauty or fine watches, but it's still 15%, I believe.

iconI'm personally thinking about getting the latest Bond creation,Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol's Lexingon Avenue. It's so fabulous I can't hardly stand it.

Saks Fifth Avenue is Having a Great Beauty Event

It's really too bad that there isn't a Saks anywhere near me, but this is good online too. So I'll be doing some shopping.

New from Bond No. 9: Lexington Avenue

I love Bond No. 9, without a doubt. I currently own Fire Island, Bleecker Street, Silver Factory, Broadway Nite, Chinatown, Bryant Park, and Nuits de Noho. I also have the So New York candle that I absolutely adore. I'd prefer to buy them at their shop on Bleecker Street, after having a cupcake at Magnolia Bakery, but unfortunately, I don't get to NYC on a regular basis, so you can often find me at the Saks counter at Tyson's Galleria.

It's too bad they didn't have this at the counter when I was there two weeks ago, because it surely would have gone home with me. This new scent, which is called a floral-chypre, is named after the street that Andy Warhol had his first apartment. It's the third in the Warhol series that Bond No. 9 has been working on. The listed notes are: blue cypress, fennel, cardamom, pink peony, Florentine orris, crème brûlée, pimento berry, patchouli and sandalwood.

Bond No. 9 is the only perfumery that can make a patchouli wearable on me for some reason. I never cringe when I see it listed on the notes, because they take something that I normally can't carry off at all and somehow make it work. It's probably magic, but you should see for yourself. If you're like me and patchouli makes you think of dirty hippies, you haven't experienced the goodness that is Bond.

NYC: Having a Drink at Saks Fifth Avenue

My cosmo and my new Betsey Johnson crazy tote on the bar at Saks Fifth Avenue's SnAKS bar. I got a lot of compliments on that bag this trip!
