NARS Spring 2010 Collection

The collection was inspired by Catherine Deneuve's role in Lucille in La Chamade:

Mr. Nars was going for shades that were as versatile as they were sexy, and Ms. Deneuve provided some beautiful inspiration.

And without further ado, here is the collection:

Duo Eyeshadow in Kuala Lumpar: gold-infused rose with boysenberry

Duo Cream Eyeshadow in Camargue: golden moss and sienna

Single Eyeshadow in D. Gorgeous: dusty lilac

Lipstick in Crusing: neutral pink

Nail Polish in Purple Rain: intensely gothic purple

Glitter Pencil in Bains Douches: sky blue infused with silver glitter

Lip Gloss in Ophelia: high shine strawberry

Lip Gloss in Easy Lover: springtime fuschia

So, anything that you're wanting to get your hands on? I want to try Easy Lover and definitely the Purple Rain nail polish. That just looks gorgeous.

Pink Fridays: NARS Schaip Nail Polish

This is not your girly pink. Leave it to NARS to create a deep pink that is sophisticated and sensual. NARS Nail Polish is well worth the price tag - they don't need more than two coats for a gorgeous color payoff, and has excellent wear with hardly any chipping after a week.

Holiday Collections: NARS

A gorgeous, sultry look created by makeup artist Diane Kendal for NARS. Let's take a look at the products she used.

Know Someone Getting Married? NARS Bridal Palette

I'm not a bride, but I'd reconsider it if it would enable me to get my hands on this little piece of prettiness. Ladies, run out and get this for your girl who is getting married - she will thank you for it.

Available exclusively on NARS online, the palette includes Edie, Nepal, Night Fever (my favorite!), and Ondine for eyes. The cheek colors are Orgasm (of course) and Albatross, another gorgeous, soft color. Lip colors are Mitzi, Baby Doll, Sexual Healing, and Roman Holiday (another of my favorites).

These are non-returnable, and retail for $65.00 only at NARS Cosmetics online.

Help Me! Nars Duo in Blade Runner

This is a swatch of NARS Nars Eyeshadow Duo in Blade Runner. I'm having a heck of a time with it. I bought it last fall, and it's been sitting in my makeup basket just waiting for me to use it. I tried it last year, and just couldn't get a decent look with it. I tried again today, and it was just a big huge mess.

I'm not sure what possessed me to buy this combo, as I don't normally wear a lot of this particular shade of brown. I'm good with greens, though, so I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I tried to find any kind of tutorial online, but didn't come up with anything. So, how would you wear it? I'm desperate for ideas!

What I'm Wanting: White Frosty Eyeshadow

Like this Iceland duo by Nars.

I don't really know why, but I desperately want some frosty white eyeshadow to wear with some carbon black eyeliner. I am inspired by the product photos of the MAC Chill Collection, but I wasn't impressed with the products in person, although the Penultimate Liner was super fun to play with.

I'm quite certain that it's because I've never worked with white eyeshadow other than a highlighter, and sparingly at that. I'd probably wear it with a true red lipstick.

Would you wear it? Have you worn it? Any tips?

Guest Review: Nars The Multiple

Rated a 7.5 by TotalBeauty.com Editor Kristen Oldham-Giordani

Nars The Multiple is a cream-to-powder formula that can be used anywhere (though it leaves lips feeling a little too powdery). The jumbo stick glides on smoothly and feels moist on skin, making it ideal for dry skin year-round or combination skin in the winter. ...More

Something Similar: NARS Orgasm and OPI Peach-a-Boo

I was going through my fingernail polish collection today and realized that I had a lot of dupes. I tend to lean towards similar colors - I realized I had a lot of fuschias. But the similarity of these two polishes that came out this season was pretty striking. Here we have OPI Peach a Boo in the smaller bottle and NARS NARS Orgasm (sold only in a set with lip gloss).

Now I need to do an actual side by side fingernail comparison, because I have nothing else to do. You know.

What to Wear to Work: Target and Old Navy

I love to utilize Target and Old Navy for my basics, and I often find great work clothes in there as well. Target especially has many flattering dresses, and I have several of them in heavy rotation for my work wear. Here is a basic cobalt dress accessorized with Old Navy shoes (which I own and are amazingly versatile and always get compliments) and cardigan. A few makeup picks for good measure as well!
