Free Shipping With Purchase of BadGal Mascara Duo at Benefit

As you know, I'm a huge fan of the BadGal line, from the mascara (hi, big inky lashes!) to the eyeliner (bigger than usual liner pencil means a wonderfully smudgy thick black line). I have not yet tried the plum mascara, but I adore colorful mascaras as a top coat, so this is right up my alley. Purchase this along with any of the other wonderful Benefit products and get free shipping. Just enter code MASCARAS at checkout. Happy shopping!

Plum Mascara? Is it the 80's? No. This is So Much Better.

Benefit Cosmetics LLC
I'm not going to lie - I love colored mascara. I have a teal colored mascara that I got from Chanel this summer that just makes my eyes pop, especially when I wear it with the matching quad shadows. And I'm a fan of Bad Gal mascara as well - it's delightfully thick, doesn't smear all over the place, and the brush is fab.

But who would have thought plum? I certainly wouldn't have, but it looks fabulous with neutrals, if you're a neutral kind of girl. It's not garish or obvious, just subtle enough to make your eyes that much more noticeable.

Benefit is doing free shipping with any $50 purchase, too. So be sure to head over there and see some of their fun new products.

Posietint by Benefit: Now With Free Shipping

This is not a product that I have actually used. However, I'm having a major lemming for it. I was never able to really rock the Benetint, it just didn't seem to work well for me. It was just too tricky for me to deal with, and I ended up looking like I had red stripes on my cheeks. I'm quite sure it was user error, and I just need a bit more practice. In the meantime, the cute pinkness of this product looks like it would be right up my alley, especially for the spring and summer. Here are a few reviews from some beauty bloggers that you should check out, as most of them are quite favorable:

Benefit's New Perfume

I got an email from Benefit announcing their new perfume! I was a fan of maybe baby eau de toilette for a really long time. In fact, I think I wore it all last summer. B spot, however, looks a bit more sophisticated and intriguing. Notes include mango, freesia, peony, sandalwood and amber.

I'm scared of sandalwood - it usually overpowers everything else on me, and I'm not a huge fan. But I love amber, especially mixed with light florals for spring or summer.

What say you? Will you be trying it out?

Some Kinda Gorgeous by Benefit

I am a big fan of Benefit. And their Some Kind-a Gorgeous is my go-to for summer foundation, especially on the weekends, when I'm not up for spending a ton of time on my liquid foundation + primer + powder combo. I find the coverage is quite even and smooth, without being cakey or just too much. It feels to me as though it's a nice combination of primer plus foundation, and it doesn't encourage huge oil slicks on my face. I usually sweep a bronzer over it for good measure, but it's not necessary.

What to Wear to Work: Target and Old Navy

I love to utilize Target and Old Navy for my basics, and I often find great work clothes in there as well. Target especially has many flattering dresses, and I have several of them in heavy rotation for my work wear. Here is a basic cobalt dress accessorized with Old Navy shoes (which I own and are amazingly versatile and always get compliments) and cardigan. A few makeup picks for good measure as well!

10 Highligher and Bronzer Duo by Benefit

I'm convinced that I would buy one of everything that Benefit sells. I have bought just about every kit and compact and absolutely love them. I bought this at the end of last summer and kind of forgot about it, sitting at the bottom of my makeup bag. However, I recently pulled it out and promptly remembered why I love it so!

10 is fantastic as a summertime-glow-blush. I apply it after an all over bronzer, and I use it on my cheekbones. It really requires no thought - just swipe the (included) brush over the product, half with the light pink and half with the bronze. Turn the brush so that the highlighter is on top and apply right on the cheekbones. This is buildable color, but I think you'll find the effect will happen without an overload of color. It's very subtle, but glowing.

This is a perfect blush for when you've gotten your (fake) tan on, you've applied some bronzing mist (more on that later), and you're using sheer shimmers on your eyes (like Chanel's new summer colors). It gives you an excellent sculpted look without being overly difficult to use.

Review: That Gal by Benefit

Let me start by saying that I am a huge Benefit cosmetics fan. Even though some of their products are a bit gimmicky, I love them, and continue to buy them over and over. I've never gotten into the colors, but that's because I'm not much of a neutrals girl, and they obviously do neutrals super well. But I need color! Lots of color!

Anyway. That being said, I think I have finally found the one product by Benefit that I just plain don't like. I'm forever looking for a decent foundation primer, and as soon as I figured out that I needed one badly, I turned to Benefit first. I grabbed That Gal because 1) it was Benefit; 2) it has the cityscape of NYC on it, and we all know that I heart NYC and 3) it was supposed to "brighten" my face as well as prime it.

I really don't like the twist up style of the product. If you happen to lose the cap (and please don't - you'll forever regret it), the product will dry out and you will not be able to work the product up out of the packaging. Currently, after 2 months, I am able to get one string of primer out of the package. Bear in mind there are probably 50 holes in the thing. I'm guessing they are all clogged up. I'm not sure. I don't want to pull it open and investigate. But don't lose that cap. Seriously.

But more than that, it just didn't have the brightening effect that I was looking for. I didn't see much of a difference at all. Maybe my face doesn't need brightening, I don't know. But if it did, this wouldn't be the product I'd reach for. I didn't find that it helped extend the life of my foundation, nor did it help achieve that flawless finish that I'm used to.

For $27 an ounce, I need a bit more performance. But don't worry Benefit, I still love you. I love your Eye Bright, EyeCon, Ooh la la lift, and just about everything else that you've ever made.

Review: Benefit's 10

I avoided buying this for awhile, because I thought it might just be too gimmicky. Nevermind that I love everything Benefit puts out, and have never had a bad experience with them. This product is no different. It really works exactly as described: pink on one side and bronze on the other, sweep your brush so that it is even on either side of the included brush. Sweep it over the cheekbones with the pink on top, and the bronze on the bottom, and viola! a sun kissed glow. It's really that simple. I remember the 80's when we had to use three colors of blush: the main color, the highlighter, and the contour. It's similar to that look, albeit on a softer scale. The bronze offers a contoured look that works well with summer makeup. I love to use mine with my mineral makeup and a bit of bronzer for a real sunkissed look.
