More amazing stuff from Susan Posnick.

I am absolutely in love with the bold colors of this summer's YSL collection. Inspired by Africa, the eyeshadow palette called Tresor d'Afrique is my favorite of the bunch. It includes 5 shades: ivory, to be used as a base; turquoise, plum, and navy blue for definition, and toffee to brighten the arch area and bring warmth and contrast to the eyes.
Not to neglect the lashes, there is a limited edition Everlong Waterproof Lengthening Mascara called "Ever Peacock Blue," which, I am quite sure, is just gorgeous. What is unique about this formula, however, is that it contains eyelash conditioner - similar to what you can buy these days to boost the length and overall growth of your lashes.
Also in this collection are two beautiful sheer lipstick shade, a Tresor d'Afrique Sun Powder (also limited edition), which is a bronzer, and the Touche Eclat Radiant Touch in "light peach." Makeup mavens everywhere seem to rave about the Touche Eclat, and after watching the videos on YSL's site, I have to say I'm intrigued. She looks flawless!
What do you think? Are you as anxious to get your hands on this gorgeous collection as I am?
I am quickly becoming an Urban Decay junkie. I really liked them before, but now I absolutely love them after playing with all their Deluxe Eyeshadows in my Deluxe Shadow Box
.
I started today with Primer Potion, then used Underground
all over the lid. On the outer corners I brushed Underground
from the middle of the lid all the way over the browbone. Then I used Zero
in the crease, blending really well. I also used Graffiti
under the eyes, then lined them with MAC's Feline pencil, and used MAC's Engraved on the waterline. In the corners, I used Benefit's Miss Popularity
.
It's easy to be a little intimidated by the bright shades in the box. But with good blending, and using more than one color, you can really create some great looks. I took Graffiti down a notch by blending in Zero in the crease, so it wasn't so bright. The more I play with them, the more I realize how many looks I can get out of 9 shadows!
Just in for the Holiday 2008 collections, Urban Decay gives us another eyeshadow palette to die for. Includes an eyeshadow brush, a travel side of Primer Potion, and the following eyeshadows: YDK (bronzed mocha with golden microglitter), Midnight Cowboy Rides Again (golden beige with bronze, gold, & silver glitter), Flipside (electric teal with blue sheen), Flash (bright iridescent purple), Grifter (sheer lavender with lots of silver microglitter), Oil Slick (black with silver glitter), Uzi (metallic silver with big iridescent sparkles), Kiddie Pool (ocean blue with iridescent glitter), Twice Baked (brownie brown with gold glitter), Half Baked (subtle, lustrous bronze). What is super about this palette, unlike their others, is that the shadows are organized into duos, top matches the bottom. Not that you have to use them this way, but it does give you a starting point.
I was looking around to see if this particular Mineralize was still available from MAC, and when it wasn't, I remembered that I grabbed it from the Cosmetics Company Store when I was at the outlet mall recently. If you haven't been to a Cosmetics Company Store, what are you waiting for? Amazing deals on Estee Lauder, MAC, Bobbi Brown and Origins. I loved it.
Anyway, I used only those two shades, plus my Chanel eye pencil in Blue Jean, which, unfortunately, was also a limited edition this past spring. Because I'm lazy, all that is on my lashes is a couple of swipes of Lash Injection by Too Faced.
Nordstrom's is having yet another beauty event that forced me into spending over $100 at the MAC counter. Seriously!
With every $100 purchase, you receive the following:
There are some great new products out at Sephora these days. The one I'm most excited about is Kat Von D Rock 'n Roll Eyeshadow Duos. It looks like they come in a nice array of colors and I'm dying to try them out. I'm already a big fan of her Kat Von D Autograph Eyeliner (although Rimmel Liquid Eye Liner
will always have my #1 spot).
Also coming out is Stila Backstage Beauty Eye Shadow Palette - The Red Carpet Look
. This looks like a fantastic combo for creating fall and winter's smoky eyes. This palette was actually designed for Marchesa's Fall 08 collection and includes both matte and shimmer shades, which makes me unreasonably happy. I love my shimmer, but I'm ready for some new looks.
Also in stores is the new Sephora by OPI line, which I've written about before. I can't wait to get in there and pick up a few shades - they look fantastic for fall.
Happy shopping!
